The keynote just got done at MacWorld and I monitored the goings on at macrumors.com.  Some cool stuff coming out, including the iPhone.  I was pretty hyped about it until they announced the prices.  $499 plus a 2 year contract for the 4GB and $599 plus a 2 year contract for the 8GB.  That is a lot of money.  A lot of money.  I will stick with my Razr and 20GB iPod photo.  I would like to get an iPod video.  Too bad they didn't announce a widscreen video iPod.

Ok, I need the advice of my fellow geeks on my next purchase.  I am getting a decent Christmas bonus and I have budgeted about a grand of it for a nice purchase for myself.  But I have a delima.  I am not sure if I should get a nice digital SLR camera or a Mac Mini. 

I have a cheap Fuji pseudo-SLR camera, only 3 mega-pixels and it takes crap photos in low light settings.  I also have a nice laptop and media center PC, so I really don't "need" either one of them. 

I haven't used in a Mac is probably 6 years or so and that was limited use.  But the iLife package has me salavating and I hear nothing but good things about Macs.  I love to edit video and iMovie looks nice.  I really want to make some DVD's of my kids.  Garage Band has me intrigued as well.

I want a digital SLR for the obvious reasons, they just take good photos.  I have an old SLR that I have used in the past, but since digital has taken over, I haven't touched it.  I have been looking at the Canon Digital Rebel XT.  I read nothing but good reviews about it. 

So fellow geeks, please give me your input.  Camera or Mac Mini?
